My last blog’s title was actually a plug for a must-read book but few seem to have caught on. Dr. Jane Orient’s 1994 book, “Your Doctor Is Not In,” will relieve those of you of the confusion about whether the folks in D.C. are ignorant or evil when it comes to health care legislation. Dr. Orient is no stranger to D.C. Everyone there, whether they agree with her or not, knows who she is. She almost single-handedly (and in a departure from the AMA’s support) defeated the Clinton health care bill. Any D.C. goons supportive of national health care certainly use Dr. Orient’s writings and books to identify the weak spots in their socialist arguments.
I love books that are timeless classics, books that read just as fresh now as when they were written, sometimes many years ago. Check out her book. Also bear in mind that when you are searching for that doctor that has opted out of government medicine and is dedicated to you and your well being, Dr. Orient has provided much if not all of the moral and intellectual courage needed for many physicians, myself included, to make that leap. Many of the principles on which our surgery center was founded stem from the organization she leads, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. No other organization of physicians champions free market, private practice and patient oriented ideas. If you ever want to know where AAPS stands on an issue, find out where the AMA is and it’s the opposite! Any physician who claims to champion the private practice of medicine should be a member of this organization if not one already.
As the socialists seduce with their specious ideas of paradise, I recommend you arm yourself with the wisdom and many truths in her book.
